With my first baby I realized how handy receiving blankets are. The bad thing is that they are only good for small babies. I saw someone with a handmade larger blanket, and decided to make some of my own. These are great for any aged baby, kids, and nursing on-the-go. They are so fast and simple too.
1 yard of 45 inch wide flannel
thread to match
ribbon or iron-on transfers for embellishment (optional)
Trim edges and make sure that the cuts are straight. You will use the whole yard to make this blanket.
Press one edge towards the wrong side of the fabric 1/2 inch. Press same edge 1/2 again.
Sew the pressed edge in place. Sew as close to the top of the pressed seam as you can.
*repeat steps 2 and 3 until all sides are finished.
Embellish with ribbons, iron-on transfers if you want.
